Make a Choice
Updated: Oct 7, 2022
It’s amazing how many people choose to move through life in a cloud of negative energy.
Positivity is contagious so I choose to live happy in hopes that my influence will lift up those around me. I also understand that I can’t want it for you.
Happiness and positivity are a choice.
It’s not always easy, in fact, most of the time it’s not. There will always be challenges and setbacks, big and small. On a large scale life itself is daunting and scary and pretty damn depressing if you choose to look at it that way. Basically we’re born, we deal with a bunch of shit, and then we die. This is why the energy that we choose to live our days with will ultimately determine the quality of the life we lead.
I’m sharing an interaction that many of us have on a regular basis. It’s one that we brush off as normal. And if we’re not careful it’s one that we allow to infiltrate our minds as acceptable.
I’ve actually had this conversation, word for word with the same person, twice in the same week…
Me: ‘Good morning, how are you today?’ Her: ‘Alive, so at least there’s that.’ Me: ‘Yeah, that’s a good place to start. Enjoy the rest of your day!’
Why do so many of us default to negative? She’s clearly in the midst of a miserable existence. The sad part is that she is not aware that her mindset is perpetuating her situation. Her energy is draining on those around her and it’s not allowing her to improve her situation.
I’ve found a new coffee shop.
The point is that we don’t know how many days we have but when our days are done each one will have taken up the exact same percentage of our life. Some will carry more weight on our conscious than others but the fact is that all days offer you the same 24 hours and in the end they all measure the same ratio as any other day. If we approach our days with this perception then it will shift our urgency and disposition. It will bring us to life and focus us on improving as opposed to settling.
If we remove the human perception of time and date, or day of the week and become alive to the fact that everyday is the same in that we choose what to do with them. We choose how we feel about our life. We choose the limits that we put on what our life is supposed to be. Who WE are supposed to be.
It’s our own doing.
All of our thoughts, ideas and results are our own.
Good or bad we must take ownership of our days.
It’s with this perspective that we get our mind right and choose to make ALL of our days count while we still have them to live.
Focus + Fortitude
